- Hakia hakia is a general purpose "semantic" search engine. Hakia claims that their semantic technology provides a new search experience that is focused on quality, not popularity. Hakia’s search results satisfy three criteria simultaneously: They (1) come from credible Web sites recommended by librarians, (2) represent the most recent information available, and (3) remain relevant to the query.

- Lycos
- Mugurdy launched its public beta in July 2009. In addition to textual results of search queries it shows a screenshot of each webpage.

Collaborative search
Swicki. Eurekster allows you to build a custom search portal, or “swicki,” around any topic of your choice. A swicki called "Web based Industrial Design Engineering tools" has been created.
Rollyo offers the ability to search the content of a list of specified websites, allowing you to narrow down the results to pages from websites that you already know and trust. In other words, you can create search engines using the sources you trust.

Jeteye helps you create libraries of bookmarks called Jetpaks®. Jetpaks can be kept private, or shared with friends, or shared with the world.
Microsoft SearchTogether is a free Internet Explorer plug-in that allows groups of people to collaborate on Web searches. So, a plug in which you have to download first.
